Shoulders are not big as advertised. Small shoulders it is. The design is very nice.
Smooth and strong. I'm not good at listing tasting notes or any of that fancy coffee terminology, but I will say that every drink I have made for friends and family using these beans has elicited a "WOW, that's amazing" and asking where I got these beans. 5 pounds (almost) down, many more to go.
The Decaf Peru is smooth and tastes great. No burnt coffee harshness. We love it!

Big Shoulders Coffee’s 1848 blend is simply fantastic. I’ve been getting the beans for a while and am impressed with the consistency of the roast over time. Additionally, it works well with my drip coffee maker, my espresso machine, and my stovetop espresso maker.

Strong, bold taste. Both my husband and I love this blend. He uses it for cappuccino, and I drink it black French press style.

In fairness, I have been a fan of Big Shoulders Coffee for some time. I have always been highly impressed by their selection of coffee beans, their roasting process, and their commitment to quality and customer service above all else! That said, 'Bold Slugger' has certainly become the stalwart of my home coffee routine - especially as I no longer reside in the Chicago area. The beans were delivered on time, packaged perfectly to maintain their freshness. Whether I use these beans to brew espresso or coffee, each and every time is a perfect pour. I've even taken to using coarse grounds to make my own cold brew coffee! Genuinely, you cannot go wrong with 'Bold Slugger'! Not too light, not too dark - it is the perfect roast for everyone from the casual coffee drinker to the absolute aficionado of their coffee routine! Superb!
Ordered the subscription as a Secret Santa present for the person I gifted to last year, and they love it!
The taste is smooth and very light.... which is the problem for me. I've had other Ethiopian blends of coffee and those were intense and bold which is what I was expecting. So really my rating may be unfair considering I based it on my expectations and not its taste.
